I was so looking forward to this desk. Felt I really did my homework for what I was looking for to have a desk between 2 shelf units. Size was perfect and color was as close as I was going to get picking it online. I am 71 years old but got the huge package in the house myself, unpacked by myself, put the legs on by myself and had my son tip it up because with legs it was heavy and did not want to damage it. I was pretty proud. It was a perfect fit. Before putting anything on it I gave it a good cleaning and it was perfect.I placed things on it and this is when the trouble began. I had been typing on my keyboard for 2 days and noticed that it was a bit dusty but the windows had been open for a couple of days, wind blowing, for the first time so did not think anything of it. I only had a keyboard, mouse with pad, and a dish on the desk. I lifted the keyboard and there were scratches in the wood already. My keyboard has felt pads on all four corners but where the edge of the keyboard sits at the edge of the desk there were tiny little scratches. If this is all it takes to discolor this desk and scratch it, it makes me wonder how many coats of varnish is on it...I assure you not many. After 2 days of using it, it is already tarnished. I do not know what type of varnish is on it or how it was put on so do not even know if I can put another coat on. The point is, why should I have to? Any suggestions? I am so so sad. At 71 I do not think I will be going through finding a box to pack up and send back. I never once have sent a product back to amazon because of poor quality..never. I am so happy I did not buy the other piece of furniture I was going to buy from American furniture. Lesson learned: Any piece of furniture I buy in the future will be sight seen.I'm a SWF who needs to be able to handle furniture purchases by myself unless someone comes to visit... I was taken with the walnut finish of this desk, as well as its simplicity and MCM vibes. When it arrived, I began to unpack it at the front door, and the only challenge was my fear that all this excellent packing would still reveal a damaged surface, etc. By the time I'd gotten all the packing stuff out of the way, the legs set in the room it was going to go, I was more confident. Slid it along the carpeting to my study and laid it down to slide out on the carpet there. It is gorgeous! The legs are simple to attach and I just went through many times and tightened the bolts. Got someone to help me tip it up and set it in place...sigh! Perfect. So...it was well-packed for shipping and the quality of the desk is as if it were solid walnut, even though I know it's stained that color but solid something else (mango wood?). It is just what I needed and fits the bill perfectly.This is a nice desk and it was VERY easy to assemble. The only assembly needed is to attached the four legs and the hardware is nice and sturdy. Happy about that. The drawer glides smoothly and the power outlets on the side are handy. The material is of high quality as well. The wood has a solid heaviness to it.The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is a little shorter than I realized it would be. 29.4 inches is just a tad short in my opinion, but overall, quite happy.This is a beautiful desk and it fits perfectly in a small room. It is very sturdy and I was able to place a riser for my two laptops. Perfect! ?The desk was missing hardware but the seller was very responsive in offering a solution . The desk is perfect for my office space , very sturdy .I use this for writingExactly what it says it is. The quality of this desk exceeded what I was expecting. Very sturdy solid wood, great finish and easy to put together. Well worth the money.Arrived with out damage. The quality met all expectations.
